Kai Shinbrough is a graduate student in Physics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an activist devoted to the protection of human rights around the world.
Kai graduated from Oberlin College with highest honors and a degree in Physics and Philosophy. While at Oberlin, Kai participated in a number of political groups oriented toward making the world a better place. Among others, he was an active member of Students for a Free Palestine (SFP)–a student group advocating for Palestinian human rights mainly through Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS). SFP hosted a number of respectful, eye-opening, and compassionate political actions during Kai’s time at Oberlin, many of which received positive media coverage on Mondoweiss, Haaretz, and the Electronic Intifada. The group continues their thoughtful work today.
Today, Kai continues his studies and activism at the University of Illinois, fighting for a better world through the University of Illinois Graduate Employees Union, Stem Strikes the War Machine, and through the power of scientific research.
